figma Armin Arlert of Attack on Titan

IMG_5824-2

If you are thrilled to see Armin Arlert in figma series, then you must have watched the most popular anime in 2013, Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan). Last year’s announcement of figma releases of Mikasa, Eren and Levi brings excitement to the fans of anime. Many are still excited to see the next SNK figma to be released and I know many are going to complete the whole group.

I have secured slots of Mikasa and Eren figma, unfortunately not with Levi yet because of so many pre-orders I made late 2013. It would be difficult to order beyond my budget limit. Note that I also ordered their nendoroids so yeah, pretty much it would drain my wallet and have to sacrifice other chibi figures too. ヘ(_ _ヘ)

Armin Arlert is a childhood friend of Eren and Mikasa. Although, Armin lacks physical strength, he has proven his strategist and field tactician skills with his brilliant mind. I like Armin Arlert’s intelligence and I think he has a great role in the series.

Figma Armin Arlert by Max Factory is Winter Wonder Festival (2014) Limited Edition product that is still open for pre-order. According to Mamitan, Good Smile Company has extended the deadline for Wonfes goods, it is now changed from February 17 to February 20, 2014 21:00JST.  So you still have time to order!

I got my hands on him together with both Snow Miku figma and nendoroid last 14th February. A very big thanks to Mamitan and the good guys of Good Smile Company.

This figma comes with with 3 expressions that are so Armin! He has a determined smiling face, shouting and worried (crying) face. He wouldn’t be Armin without those significant expressions of him. Including in this set is their famous weapon that looks really cool, dual blades and maneuvering equipment.

He also comes with Scouting Legion mantle and smoke effect parts to recreate various combat battle poses. Extra hand parts, and the wire that shoot out from his equipment is also included. He has figma articulated stand to enjoy different poses of figma Armin. Extra hand joint is also included.

My photo shoot with figma Armin Arlert is based on the anime. I also made a roof diorama to recreate some scenes in Shingeki No Kyojin. The only thing I didn’t have is a Titan (boo-hoo) and bloody Eren. All of the shots were taken outdoor. Thanks to a sunny weekend.

I enjoyed figma Armin Arlert, as a SNK anime fan, I really wanted to complete their figures from nendoroid to figma as much as I can. I am blessed that GSC has sponsored this for me. I swear when I receive Mikasa and Eren, I’ll definitely make a special figure photography featuring them, oh and Levi is a great bonus. I hope GSC will send him too. (^_-)≡★

I haven’t really played with my old figma collection, but this new released figma has improved their posability. It has good articulation that enables you to recreate your favorite scenes. The combat poses look really cool. The joints are not so visibly noticeable on figma Armin and I loved it.

The quality of sculpt and paint is something I wouldn’t ask for more. At least in my eyes, they are perfect. The maneuvering equipment is well detailed and you would think “Oh, so this is how it looks like up close.”

It took me a couple of minutes to figure out how to attach the equipment to his body, but when you get the knack of it it’s pretty simple. There’s an instructional paper with Armin so you don’t have to worry.

I had fun taking him out to the sun and taking his photos. Although, he fell from a meter high concrete wall while I was shooting and it breaks my heart just thinking about it. It left 1mm scar in the back of his hair. p(´⌒`。q) It didn’t stop me though, because I love figure photography. I just have to be more careful and patient next time.

That’s all for now, expect more photos of these lovely Wonfes goodies this week.

These are also published on Good Smile Company Facebook page.

Great, great set Sheng! As a fan of SNK, your photos of Armin did live up to his character in the anime, especially that photo of the crushing scene at the rooftop when Eren gets…. 😉 I’m so looking forward to your shoot with Mikasa and Eren!

BTW, I like the tones you used here, not too cheery like usual as of course it wouldn’t fit SNK lol. It’s not a cheerful anime hahaha 😀 Good job sis! I super loved this!

reminds me of my older action figures, but figma’s are far better than that.
it’s cool to have the Shingeki characters as figma, Armin is very detailed and has expressive faces.
Good job on getting these action shots. I didn’t knew that there will be a Levi figma, might take a look now

    Don’t die Armin!

You take some great pictures man. Can you tell me the settings of your camera when you took these?

    1. sheng says:

Hi Rob glad you liked this set! Most of the shots are between aperture f2.5-3.5, using my 50mm lens and shutter is about 1/320, I keep it at ISO 100, these were taken around 10AM and 3-5pm. I didn’t use flash. Different time of day changes the lighting and exposure time. I post processed a little bit thru Lightroom to achieve this tone.
